Baby Rosalie is the most famous family member because her head stone includes a ‘death mask’ made of her face in 1882. She is actually just one of six siblings buried here.
In these photographs a stuffed child’s toy has been left at the grave site. This is a long standing tradition, leaving toys for Rosalie.
In all there are 18 Raymonds and Goodbreds buried in this old plot.
All the grave sites here back up to a beautiful marsh. Compared to other parts of this old cemetery the plots look cared for.
Perhaps there are living relatives still in Charleston since Magnolia Cemetery is the resting place for many of Charlestons, and the US, founding families.
Today, 2/27/2020, there is a burial in Magnolia. The woman being interred is a member of one of these families. Her forefathers bearing the same name wrote the draft of the Constitution of the United States, were State Governors, Military, Politicians , and Ambassadors.
