The last few times I have been out to the wildlife management areas there have been plenty of Avocet. I don’t think that is usual, not this many.

These Stilt birds (long legs) may need to move on soon so I want to get as many good photographs as possible.

In most places the water is high. This limits where these birds can find food. While long legs help, they still are not a very big bird. High water and they can’t feed.
