This guy was ‘struttin his stuff’. And that’s hard for an Anhinga. Those huge, flat, webbed feet don’t hang on branches very well. In fact I’ve seen them fall out of trees.
The Anhinga dance is different than others in the rookery. He hangs on, sits up, and spins his wings…backwards.
It’s a bouncing back stroke.
I have added photographs in a gallery here for easier viewing of the show. Click the first image below to view in order.
So odd, yet so graceful, yet so odd. Marvelous photography.
Everything about them is a contradiction 😂😂😂. Thanks.
Very nice! I haven’t seen that much of a display before. Quite a privilege. William — “What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at Your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations.” Psalms 104 The Message
Usually when I see a good display they seem to be out of range, or behind branches. Just this morning there was a chorus line going on… all too far. Thanks.
Well now, if this isn’t the coolest bird ever. So unique, gorgeous and your photos are perfect, showing the details of color. I had to call my husband over to my computer and said, ” Look at this”, Those eyes, I have seen so many new species of birds the last couple of years. These photos are just amazing. Thank you so much Ted.
And thank you ! Colorful, odd, and as friend says ‘a gangster’.
Fabulous action series, that is some struttin’ stuff!
Yesterday they were lined up like a chorus doing this, too dark to shoot but funny.
He’s got game! 👏what a showman. Beautiful shots, Ted
He’s cool and knows it….
These looks so different but I love the colour mix. 😊
Thank you. They are ‘different’ birds 😂😂
You are welcome. 😊 ❤
Una belleza esta ave que yo desconocía, saludos¡¡
