Peacocks and southern plantations have a long history together.

As a show of wealth large plantation owners had huge elaborate gardens. At one point they were among the largest and most beautiful in the world rivaling the famed French manors.

Adding a few Peacock roving the land was perfect.

Besides, they were loud and protective of their territory (they still are) so made a great alarm system.

We were going through a plantation and he came over, blocked our path, then did his dance.

Since there are still very few people around I guess he picked us for practice. He usually dances for the plantation tourist but he settled for me. Sorry, I give no treats or lady Peacocks.
