Wood Ducks, Second Sighting

Wood Ducks, Second Sighting

Title is a bit misleading but I had to follow the flow of the first article which was named ‘First Sighting’.

I never did lose sight of them. They went nowhere, but I expected they would.

I followed the basic rule of ‘get the shot first’ and for these a moved closer and set my shots.

At this distance they still felt comfortable. No drama here, I used a tree truck for stability (leaned against it) to shoot slow.

The chicks settled down so I backed off the way I came and considered myself lucky.

  1. These are wonderful shots, Ted. It is always exciting to see these little families. I don’t know how things are there, but it was sad to see the number of babies diminish over time as a result of aggressive predators. I know that it is the way of nature, but I think that we all feel a kind of natural affinity for these cute little babies.
