Dike With An Alligator Trail

Dike With An Alligator Trail

When I first took this shot it was another photograph of an Alligator.

Afterwards I noticed there was a little story here (big surprise).

Dike With An Alligator Trail

The scene is simple, an Alligator sunning along the edge of a large dike. These dikes are very tall in many places since the water levels change often.

There’s more. Top right is a dark open and clear ‘hole’ in the dense foliage. The waters edge where the gator is also has only dirt. This is a ‘gator trail’.

The dark open space is where the Alligators climb the side, reach the dike top, and then go down another similar open spot to the marsh on the other side.  The dikes are covered with these trails.

Just a random FYI to add something to the simple picture.
