These Night Herons have set up house on a small swamp island. It’s not very large but does have water and wetlands all round it.

As expected it has lush vegetation, places to sit and hide.

I happened to be standing on a trail as one flew into the island. I never would have known about them without seeing him.

Now we just wander by once in a while. They are still here. With luck the young will be around.
