This is not nearly as defined as a Peter Hillman or Mike Powell insect image. However, a spider that drags around fish and frogs is not to be trifled with.
This is a Fish Spider, named such because of their diet.
Using a long wildlife lens I could not get closer and still focus. Not that I had any intention of.

As big as any I have seen in the US. Two things, I do not like spiders, and I didn’t know they were here. I know the habitat of the others, and watch for webs. No web with this big guy 😳. A true predator. Uggh
I might love snakes and gators, but spiders just aren’t my thing!
I agree. Some in the swamps have webs that feel like 10 pound test fishing line when you hit them. Hate that, I know whoever made it is real close…and pretty big.
