As I wrote earlier we stopped counting at 30 young ones scattered round the mother. Some were in the water, others the tall grass, and at least 20 sitting on a mud flat.
From the various sizes they look to be from different egg clutches. A female can have between 30 – 50 eggs at a time. It’s not uncommon to have 90.
The photographs here represent all the juveniles that were in an easy to photograph spot, I tried to avoid shooting the same young ones twice. It was unavoidable in a few shots.
