This time of year I always make sure to shoot wide when I am out there. There are views and landscapes we all don’t get to see often, if at all.

These images are best viewed large.

Above is a Great Blue Heron landing in the tall marsh grasses. On the right a few small Marsh Hens can be seen. Of course, in the foreground, is the ever present Alligator.

A small flock of Great Egret, with a few Herons in the mix. The main subject is a single Alligator leaving the group, heading towards our dike.

Two Great Egrets along the reeds, woodlands off to the left. If you look closely you can see five small ‘logs’ floating nearby. Logs being Alligators.

The posture of these Great Blue Herons is a signal there may be a territory dispute in the near future. One of these big birds did back down and walk away. Breeding season would have been different.
