White Pelican will gather in a group, a line actually, and swim forward pushing fish ahead. I don’t know if they would work like this in a large lake, marshes are much more shallow.
Actually Brown Pelican fish completely different than others. They dive, head first, from up high. However, they will dive as a group.
Search on the word Pelican and you will find articles on diving Brown Pelican. Last winter I stumbled on a flock chasing a school of fish right in front of me. It was the best photo op of Pelicans I have ever had. Everything fell into place 😂😂
Thanks. They were still at it yesterday. This section has got to run out of food soon. There were even more Pelican and the Spoonbills now outnumbered them.
That’s really cool! Didn’t know they did that. I wonder if Brown Pelicans do something similar? Either way I wouldn’t want to be a fish around them!
