Taken in the early morning as we discovered a large group (bowl) of Spoonbills.

Scenes like this are a gift and I never know how to take advantage of it. The birds might give you 5 minutes, or hours.
In this case I had an unusual high spot with Spoonbill moving around. I shot wide to get what action I could.

This is where lucky timing comes in. The birds were moving around and I had an opening in the tall grass. I stayed there instead of scrambling to find the ‘perfect’ angle…which is a trap for me.

One Spoonbill’s actions made the whole scene worth shooting. If he had not dropped down this could have been 50 identical images.
