Captain's Marker

Captain’s Marker

Most of the letters were worn away. It did start with ‘Capt.’ and the anchor carving was clear.

This is not the only old sailors stone, Charleston has been a seaport since the early 1700’s.

    1. I was surprised at how much history is in the old cemeteries here. Coming from New England the cemeteries contain history from the revolution. Down here it’s early Native Americans, the Revolution, plus the Civil War since many of the history and battles are from my town.

Also it’s smaller here. I am now friends with people who have the same family names as the people I read about in history books. Interesting place to live and photograph.
