These were taken in the oldest landscaped (formal) garden in the US. Middleton Plantation gardens were first created in the mid 1700’s.
The gardens run along the Ashley River, 15 miles up stream from Charleston, South Carolina.
I think my preference here is to shoot in the early spring or winter.
While not a fan of this style I can appreciate they have been here for almost 300 years.
All of this plantation was damaged during the Civil War and the great earthquake of 1862. The grounds have always been repaired.
