From A Dike

The other day at a marsh, when it was not raining, we walked one of the dikes separating two large wetlands.

It was a slow day so we went for the easy to find critters, the Alligators. They tend to be off the sloping sides of a dike. Either down at your feet or across the small canal/creek, though sometimes on the dike with you too.

These gators were easy photographs, just on the other side of the canal. It’s not very wide, just enough for them to feel safe and not swim off. When the birds are not cooperating, the locals will usually give you some shots.

Now that I’ve found these images I need to go back to that day last week. I think Ellen has a shot of me trying to reason with a big guy to share the trail and let us go by.
