Spoonbill Chasing A Snowy Egret

Spoonbill Chasing A Snowy Egret

Roseate Spoonbill are usually fairly docile animals, very ‘laid back’. However, it’s breeding season and the Snowy Egret is just the opposite, very aggressive.

Maybe the Snowy was getting too close to a nest. I didn’t see one though.

I did hear that big flat bill snapping loud at the Egret which is what made me look towards them.

The Snowy kept just out of reach. Which was obviously the smart thing to do.

Eventually it ended being nothing but noise and threats.

  1. Wonderful series, Ted, esp. when enlarged! I can hear the snapping of the Rosie’s beak, lol. The Snowy Egret’s face is priceless, staying out of reach. 😅
