We were watching this Owl, as he watched the swamp. Below were Frogs and Crayfish and all the bird wanted was a glimpse of motion.
At first Ellen (PassingByPhoto) had a good spot to photograph the Owl moving around looking for the best branches.
Eventually he flew over to where I could see him.
Getting these shots is a waiting game, which he usually wins. However this time he spotted something closer to me and made the move to catch it.
Owls make absolutely no sound in flight so we have to start shooting the moment we even think he will fly.
I did capture his flight going across the swamp this time.
Of course, the dive and catch were behind the trunk of a large Cypress tree. That’s fine with me though.
Shooting an Owl flying through a dark swamp is one of the harder things we do. This series made the day for me.
