A few Cattle Egret photographs shot as we reached a hidden rookery in Okefenokee Swamp.
Nesting looked to be just starting with the building further into the thickets than we could capture cleanly.
At first it was a mass exodus when we came into the area. We made little noise, but of course it didn’t matter.
Once we sat quiet in the water most all the birds came back. Boats, even a small flat bottom one, don’t come back here since the water ways are shallow and blocked by growth. We were lucky to hit unusually high water. Finally became just a piece of the landscape.
