Black Vulture

Black Vulture

Walking along a marsh dirt road I heard all kinds of wing flapping from behind.

Assuming it was an Egret, maybe Heron, I searched around but nothing.

A little more noise and…

He must have landed as I walked by.

A bit unsettling  when he glanced down, and just stared at me.

    1. They are fairly common, at least where there are vultures. They mix with the Turkey Vultures so easy to miss. Oh yeah, they don’t glide in the air as easy as a Turkey Vulture, wings are a bit stubby for their size.

Vultures were something I found surprising when moving to the Lowcountry. Up north you see them circling up high. Here, as common as a sparrow 😂.

  1. Black Vulture… I have never seen this bird and learned about it today. It’s a nice looking bird and so different. Very special photographs!!!
