I went out doing my ‘slow day’ Alligator hunt in the large marshes recently. Not much going on at the time.
I did not see this Great Blue coming, but I sure heard him. He gave out one of those deep, loud, squawks seemingly out of nowhere.
He must have been coming in fast I never saw the touch down.
But he pushed those big wings to slow himself down.
Another sign of how fast he was moving is the trail of splashing water left behind.
He did stop fairly quickly. The big guy did leave his wings outstretched while walking along.
They can be a bit of a show off.
