Female Gallinule

Female Gallinule

You can actually see her colors here. They usually disappear screaming (yes they are loud) at first sight of a person.

Also knowns as a Moor Hen they are very common in marshes and swamps. Their huge feet allow them to run across floating plants, and water if the get a good start and flap their wings hard enough.

    1. Common in swamps / marshes. Adult males have a very red plastic looking top of their bill. They hide until the last minute then run away screaming. I call them the early warning system. With Gallinule around everything within a half mile knows you are out there 😂😂. Thanks.
