Marsh Skimmer

Marsh Skimmer

Here, from one of large marshes, are shots of a Black Skimmer(s) fishing along the surface. There were a few different birds so these may or may not be the same Skimmer.

Above is the classic Black Skimmer pose, quickly flying along the surface of the water.

This next, above, is a particularly hard shot to catch right. A bird heading towards you is a small enough target, at Black Skimmer speed… doubly hard. Not many keepers when I do this.

And finally, turning away to start a new pass, in another direction. Stunning birds.

These images were taken last week while out in the ACE Basin. Living in the Lowcountry gives us the ability to shoot one day at the shore, the next in a swamp, and maybe the next in a large marsh.

I have done two of the three in the same day, it’s just pushing it a bit. We do like to mix them up though. For me it allows me to publish multiple photographs, from different environments, most any time.

Gotta love the Lowcountry.
