Caught this female Anhinga drying on an old snag. It’s summer so these birds dry off quickly now.
Like a Cormorant they have no oils to cover their feathers. Other birds do. Lack of oil helps in swimming and diving but they get very wet.
Mid fall these birds may start to move south. How far is a guess now with the climate change. In the past, being tropical birds, Anhinga went back to Central and South America.
