If you should see a Black-crowned fly out of this small island, and you have patience, they will be back. And out again.
This is a Night Heron rookery, hidden like usual, but they are there.
Herons will be going in and out constantly. It’s the timing and patience that is the issue. They are fast and will work to keep away if they spot you, but you can be rewarded with some hard to get flight shots.
And many near misses.
