Black-bellied Whistling Duck

Black-bellied Whistling Duck

They are said to be rarely seen in South Carolina. I would have agreed just a few days ago. We have seen a few each year, but that’s all.

We found too many to count in our normal marsh visit the other day.

    1. We just started seeing them here maybe 4 years ago. They had been southern Fl., central and South America. Before this year we would see one breeding pair a year. Well, in one years time we now have hundreds in the far marshes, and they are breeding here. I would guess they drop down to Fl. in January/February.
