Anhinga, A Small Fish

Anhinga, A Small Fish

She had speared a small fish and climbed up on an old piling with it. Probably not a bad idea since an Alligator would be interested in her catch, or her.

She had the typical Anhinga problem, the fish was stuck on her beak. Unlike Cormorants, or other diving birds, Anhinga use their sharp beak as a spear to catch fish.

This time it was easy to dislodge the fish. A little twist and it was free for her to grab.

As always it’s a quick swallow to finish.

    1. Thanks. They don’t miss many. Biggest problem they have is while swimming and poking the bottom with their sharp bill… another critter is swimming along nearby. In a race I’m not sure who is faster, Anhinga or Alligator.
