Great Blue, Open Water

Great Blue, Open Water

Great Blue Heron passing by low over a marsh pond.

So…

This is called a pond in the Lowcountry, in Maine too. Elsewhere it’s a lake. To add confusion one large, miles long  side turns into marshlands. So technically it’s a marsh pond.

One of the many things different down here.

Above a Great Blue jumped up and passed by quickly. The angle from the dike was perfect for a simple background. I was able to catch several Herons flying by right here, as well as back over in the (real) marsh.

Lately the Great Blues have been out further in the reeds, but now Storks and Spoonbills moved closer. That’s about how it works every fall.
