A few shots from a rookery the other day. It was the first time I had seen the Great Blues looking around.

This male was standing on what remained of a nesting spot from last year.

There wasn’t much left to build on but they know which are the best places. The early males get prime real estate, and look to find a female.
A decent nesting spot is better than flowers and chocolate if you’re a lady Heron. Include an old fish and it’s a sure win.
