When you get up close you realize how big these guys are. White Pelicans are the longest bird in North America and have the second largest wingspan, over 10 feet.
When they take off it’s like a big jet, they need space.

Pelicans jump / run while pumping these big wings. It takes effort to get airborne.


In the right spot it’s fun to watch them bouncing along during take off.
