He caught it and now was taking no chances of losing it to a bigger critter.

I did not see where this young Black-crowned Night Heron made the catch. This little guy was already making his escape to a safe place.


Unfortunately he couldn’t make up his mind where to hide.


He just kept flying around carrying the prize. Which of course made things worst, basically advertising to the others.

I lost sight of him heading off towards more marsh.
However, later on I spotted him several times flying around. Either he was still confused, or couldn’t figure out how to eat a catfish with sharp barbs.
