I’ve only had to do that on one other blog and it was not a WordPress blog. I looked all over the Control Panel to see if there was a check box related to it but can’t find one. It’s the same for Ellen’s blog so there must be something somewhere that triggers it. I wonder if others have the same experience.

I have that issue with at least 3 other sites, WordPress. My ‘techie’ background tells me it’s a combination of items. The main culprit being the theme Ellen and I use which is old. Rebuilding a site our size, and keeping functions we use, probably not an option.
The other issues I have found is how a user (testing as me in this case) accesses another site, reader, email, PC, etc. I have done all and issues rise from each.
Last WP itself, especially adding ancient ‘black edits’ internally seems to clash with backward compatibility at times. Newer techs with WP pushed an idea (blocks and edits) that while new to them failed decades ago for Microsoft, Adobe, etc.
So… the short version is I feel you pain 😂😂😂
