Winter brings more Cormorants to the south, especially the marshes.
I caught this one just as he began to land and I managed to get focus. Cormorants are fast and really have little to help focus on with a background like these reeds. Most times I only watch unless they are much closer to open water.
Instead of diving down as he touched the surface it was a soft landing. That made the shots all the much better.
And better yet, he joined a White Pelican.
