Even if the Egret had not seen the Alligator as he began to land, once near the water there was no missing what was down there.

I always wonder how they manage! Do the birds know when the alligators are hungry, or not hungry?!
I had wondered that too. I think it’s more about how rarely an Alligator tries to catch one of the big birds. Too many other easy options. I’ve seen Spoonbills grab their tails, Egrets stand on them, etc. Gators don’t care unless they are guarding young.
So it seems! ☺️
