This was one of the first times now I have seen a male start bringing in the sticks. At first it’s passed to the female gently, like a ritual starting the nest building.


While not a great angle it’s what I could get. Swamp between us here.


They were early nesters which gave them the best spots to pick from. The male had selected a large nest from last year, and it is in good shape. Herons are not master builders, this was a lucky find.


Only a small million more trips for additional sticks.
