The Avocet is one of those birds that always get attention. This was actually deep water for a bird. However they are members of the ‘Stilt’ family with incredibly long legs.


There’s a chance they were standing ‘on their toes’ when I shot these.
There was a large group feeding and when they went to reach the bottom underwater, they were almost submerged. I’m surprised they were there at all.
