Roseate Spoonbill are less vocal than most other wading birds. Usually it’s nothing more than a short ‘cough’ between each other.

However, there is one ‘low hoarse call’, with their head thrown back, to alert others. Most times the call is followed by a quick exit.

The kids here got it wrong though. The other Spoonbill answered his call. From 10 feet away.
Just one more thing to learn about while growing up.
