Over the winter months some of the dike trails are closed off. Alligators live by the hundreds back there, a big water fowl population, otters, boar, and of course wading birds.
They opened it… we took a walk armed with extra cards and batteries.

We found mostly big heads to photo, and a large number of huge splashes off in the reeds. Over the last months the locals had forgotten about us. Well, when they spotted us it was a panic belly flop into the water.
Another week or so and we will be completely ignored.

Nice that more trails have opened up. I can’t believe that birds would turn their backs on these big guys 😏
I’ve seen Spoonbill bite a tail to get them to move LOL
I’m off Good Friday and planning Donnelley again, or Bear Island. Suggestions? Thanks!
