A few images of a Great Blue Heron lining up with his flight plan and approach to the rookery nest. The plan and method allows them to fly through the branches… no unexpected crashes.
Above the Heron changed his flight turning just enough to line up the tree. I always think of a jet heading to the runway.
Most times they come in a little lower, they usually do this, no idea why.
Last they glide right into the tree safely.
At the start of nesting you can see the where and why. In a few weeks this is all green leaves. I can see that being a problem if they don’t have a plan.
