Our local rookery is getting crowded, many of the ‘premium’ locations are filled. Now the late arrivals need to be creative with construction, or bullies and steal another’s nest.

This Great Egret is carrying sticks through the branches and up the middle of a large Cypress.

I’m not sure exactly where this bird has taken residence. Once inside the tree they get lost from sight.
