This is a typical view of a Black Skimmer in a marsh.
Before flying low, and skimming the waters surface, they circle and look for both fish and an open path to fly. Being fast they make an attempt to find a safe path.
Above I said they ‘make an attempt’ to find a clear path.
Once they start to hunt and skim these birds twist and turn between any obstacles… which are usually other birds fishing too. I’ve never seen one crash but other birds jump out of their way at times.
My spirit soars with skimmer.. such a nice shot Ted!
Thanks.
