What an awesome shot, I would love to see them skimming the water one day. I saw them once just standing on the beach. Such a cool looking bill they have.
They are a perfect adaptation for their environment. Nothing else out there is even close.
Each year we usually get one or two opportunities to catch them skimming. This year has been amazing. The other day every marsh I went to had flocks, all skimming. Yesterday morning was the same, but in places the water level is rising. We might be at the end, however I shot close to 500 photos of just them from the dirt causeway accessing Bear Island.
Another confirmation moving to the Lowcountry was a good idea. Of course we are hitting the 90βs every day now so Iβll start to complain again next week πππ
