A Green Heron, adult, in a rookery. The raised crest is always a sign of some type of issue. But like the smaller Egrets they are prone to the dramatic. Could be nothing at all.
I did see adults trying to keep track of their juveniles. The young Green Herons here have fledged enough to take short flights. That of course leads to chaos because all the babies are mixed together, not a single nest. Who belongs to who ???
A few young were trying to fish on their own, in the mud, nearby. At least they’re trying.
