The Wood Storks look to be considering nesting with the little guys. Well, Herons and Egrets are little compared to these storks.

Maybe 8 – 9 flew in while I was at the small wading bird rookery. This is not the usual place for a Wood Stork.

These birds are as big as a person, the tallest tree here was thin and wispy at the top.

Very cool though to watch them turn and finally find a spot to settle into to.

Ultimately only a pair stayed. However they did bring in branches for a nest. Storks nesting here would be a first.
Port Royale, South Carolina.
Seems to be a bit of controlled chaos when those beasts come in for a landing. Last ones I saw were hanging out with a bunch of egrets in Georgia.
Harris Neck in Georgia has a big rookery of Storks.
Yep, that is where I was – Harris Neck. Almost stepped on a gator there – never forget that place.
π. They can have several hundred young birds each year. A great place, island further than others we go to, but the Storks love it.
Oh yeah, Alligators a way of life here ππ.
