A previously published photograph here, however easily this fits a story that has just happened here, almost at this very spot.

Two hikers along these trails didn’t prepare properly for the heat, and the long distances out here. They were lucky to have had some cell coverage. Enough to reach out to emergency services to come get them out.
A local rescue crew, on all terrain vehicles, found them and got them to safety.
Everything worked out for them. I did chuckle though when I read “a good thing they were found, night was coming and half the things out there want to eat you”.
An exaggeration, but it does keep things in perspective. I won’t be out there any time soon in this heat.
That’s a scary situation, had the misfortune of succumbing to the heat twice now on my long runs and it didn’t end well either time. Fortunately, those happened during the day, so I didn’t have to contend with all the things that wanted to eat me ha!
I have not had heat stroke, my wife (also photographer) has had a few issues. Frost bite has been my enemy. Maybe why we shoot down here year round now.
