It’s a good thing I have taken some time away off. When back at it I can maybe look at the additional shore bird photographs with a fresh eye. I think there is another day of shore bird shooting to review.

I’m sure there will not be another trip out to a shore bird rookery this year so I can take my time developing what I have.

Is it common there for Pelicans to roam the shoreline? It suddenly seems odd to me that I don’t remember seeing them on our upper Texas beaches. They are, however, masters of piling-perching. Now, the Laughing Gulls are a different matter; they’re everywhere.
Brown Pelicans will have a roost, maybe an island where they rest each night.
These shots were taken at a Pelican rookery. Thousands of nests, with young, on a small island off the South Carolina coast. They wander the shore because they have no predators there (I was on a flat boat in the surf and not a threat).
