Black-bellied Whistling Duck

Black-bellied Whistling Duck

First shots of the day. Not dark but certainly not daylight either. Somehow a few in flight keepers.

We spotted them because this was in a place they have been seen before. Swamp land but on the edge of woods. Exactly what they like.

This bird wanted to join a few others on the other side of a dirt road. Finally he jumped and flew past me.

The Whistling Duck is another animal taking advantage of the changes in climate. Maybe six years ago a few strays first showed up. Now they are common in the Lowcountry swamps.

BTW, no duck quacks, they really do whistle.
