This Heron was doing his best to blend into the reeds. I’m sure he was aware of me the entire time I was nearby. Me, oblivious.
A Great Egret was making a racket and bouncing around in the marsh. That was my interest until just by chance I lowered my camera to check settings. In front of me, much too close to get any focus, was this Great Blue Heron.
The usual rule of don’t make eye contact worked here. I turned and walked a few steps back giving both of us space.
