Sometimes when out walking you come right up on a local. In this case a Great Egret. It’s usually a case of passing through brush, a turn in a trail, basically an unexpected meeting.
Here it was a turn on a dike.
A nice fast shot and we went about our business.
I get the feeling these Egrets have very little stress in their lives and like spending the tranquil days with toes in the water.
Stress comes in the spring. Mating and fighting full time. They are actually one of the most deadly in the swamps.
