I watched this Great Blue for some time before taking the shot.
It’s a pretty Great Blue, nice reflection, but just standing and watching. And that’s why I suddenly took the photograph.
We were waiting for him to do something, but that was the whole idea of the image.
What you can’t see is what the bird was watching. It was a large group of Pelicans clustering over a school of fish. No wonder he didn’t do anything. A single bird out weighed him by 20 pounds LOL.
Below is a small part of the chaos in front of the Heron. It was safer on his side of the dead trees.
