At this rookery many of the males are still waiting for mates to come. They don’t want to wander too far from their nest spot. Another Great Blue can take it.
Some sneak go off to the marshes. I have noticed others wandering along the banks looking for small prey.

Above is a bird I spotted when first walking into the swamp. The big Cypress Tree trunks are effective at hiding them until the last minute.


I have been finding a spot with decent view and shade to stand in. A tree to lean on is even better. After a while the locals get comfortable with you there and go on about their business.
